The Blogasphere
‘There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.’
Hamlet, Shakespeare 1.5.167-8
Unaccustomed as I am to blogging… and clearly a late starter, though no less enthusiastic, (time permitting… yes, this may be the first and last), I hesitate to decide on an opening topic. Which tone, what mood and subject matter would suit the blog of a woman who wears many hats and has incorporated her work-life into a single website? Hm…
Perhaps we should start (that’s the royal ‘We’), with ‘Hello dear online reader’, as I understand that a good blog, a successful blog, is much more for you than for me…
Let me confess to being a social media luddite-dinosaur who does not spend her days trawling through the twitter-sphere, blogosphere, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat zones of existence. This of course may change, now that my new website offers a curiously tempting Blog page for me. Yes, this may become a portal to a whole new virtual world that perhaps I have been unconsciously missing. Or not.
For now, I feel I cannot leave this space blank – although Space (in place and time) are rare and beautiful things – or ‘non-things’ I guess. Yet, I cannot leave it blank. So perhaps I’ll grow into the world’s most verbose and mellifluent blogger this side of the black stump.
You may never have heard of the black stump, unless you are from Australia. It is the imaginary place in the ‘outback’, beyond civilisation. I do not believe there is an actual locatable stump, (well there’s probably a few but no official black one), yet beyond this metaphorical burnt out tree trunk, there is clearly nothing. Which is still quite delightfully true for a large part of our continent. Nothing and nowhere – a place that may be the source of Inspiration. A place ‘where the wild things are’. A place I aspire to live in when I’m yearning for enlightenment. Oh I have moments, brief glimpses of course, like the rest of us, like the best of us…
Sorry – about you…
Hello. Welcome to my website and blog.
I do not know what you shall find here yet but I’ll endeavour to keep it real, keep it true and sometimes a little beyond our imagination – which is what I support and encourage my writing and public speaking clients and students to do – and what I aspire to achieve in all my creations.
Stay posted… but ah, don’t hold your breath…
